Colleen Germain - Oil Painter

I paint imagined flowers and landscapes.

I work as an Art Teacher at ArtWorks, a fine art studio and cutting edge gallery serving adults with special needs. Every day I am inspired by the work my students create. The experience of watching them create with fresh and unique perspectives often inspires me to paint more freely, and this is my current goal as an artist. I am motivated to express a calming mood in my work, marked by bright warm and deep cool colors taking shape in organic, unfussy forms.

My studies at Holy Cross and at Bard focused on decorative arts and design. I studied in Florence, Italy for one year and in Chiang mai and Bangkok, Thailand as a Fulbright Scholar, and spent ten years living and working in the arts in New York City. Newly resettled in my hometown of Scranton, I'm refreshed by the natural beauty of Northeastern Pennsylvania that I've grown to appreciate more than ever. I live with my canine companion Ivy, a mini-hairless xoloitzcuintle with a heart of gold.
