Colleen Germain - Oil Painter
I paint imagined landscapes, flowers, and interiors.
My studies at Holy Cross and at Bard focused on decorative arts such as textiles and rugs, and they find their way into my paintings in allover patterns and flowing forms. I studied in Florence, Italy for one year and in Chiang mai and Bangkok, Thailand as a Fulbright Scholar, and spent ten years living and working in the arts in New York City. Newly resettled in my hometown of Scranton, I'm refreshed by the natural beauty of Northeastern Pennsylvania that I've grown to appreciate more than ever.
I work as an Art Teacher at ArtWorks, a fine art studio and cutting edge gallery serving adults with special needs. Every day I am inspired by the work my students create. The experience of watching them create with fresh and unique perspectves often inspires me to paint more freely, and this is my current goal as an artist. I am motivated to express a calming mood in my work, marked by bright warm and deep cool colors taking shape in organic, unfussy forms.
